As an actress and director of William Shakespeare's plays I know how difficult it can be to 'translate' some of the more enigmatic word choices and phrases that the Bard used. Ms. Papadinis' Frankly Annotated editions of the first folio do all the work for me! Instead of using a mountain of resources to look up proverbial phrases, double entendres and definitions that have been lost to history - I can simply use one of her incredibly detailed books to find everything I need. One of the secrets to acting Shakespeare is to understand absolutely everything that the character is saying or referencing. I have used all three of Ms. Papadinis' books (Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and As You Like It) for audition research, directing and for classes (currently finishing my MFA degree). Not only did these books save so much valuable time, but I felt as if they gave me an edge with the extra detailed information and obscure reference translations.I highly recommend to everyone who is interested in Shakespeare to also collect all three of these books and I am hoping Ms. Papadinis will finish the canon with more of her Frankly Annotated editions!
