It has pretty, floral like patterns and mandalas that appealed to me right away, which was very exciting. I normally do not know how to approach coloring mandalas, so sadly would steer away from most of them. With the floral like appearance of these, coloring them comes easy to me. I really enjoy all of the illustrations in this book.There are 40 different, unique and detailed illustrations, which are lightly gray scaled which helps you to know where to shade. You simply color over the shaded areas like normal, and it gives extra depth and dimension. The book has an attractive cover, with a brightly colored design against a black background, that brings your attention to it. The back cover contains 12 smaller, thumbnail images of some of those illustrations found inside the book. The book begins with a information page that contains the standard copyright information, a link to where you can find more of Heathers designs, as well as credit given to the colorist of the cover design. Next is a “belong to” page that can colored as well. In the back of the book are 2 pages to test your colors on and use as a reference guide. .The book is slightly smaller than most, at 8 x 10 inches, which actually is perfect size for those that like to frame their work. There is no cropping needed. All of the illustrations are full page and have a minimum of ½ inch white space border around the images which make it easy for photocopying or removal without losing any part of the design.Image quality is great. They are printed clean and clear, with no fuzzy, skipped or pixelated lines. The designs are quite detailed, but have a nice balance of open spaces with some more intricate areas. For those with vision or dexterity issues, like myself, I do not find this detail to cause too much difficulty. The designs are quite elaborate, but the way they are drawn, coloring the smaller areas as a whole instead of each intricate spot, will make coloring them much easier. There will still be some tiny areas you may want to do individually.The images are single-sided, which is what most colorists prefer. Paper weight is 60#, which is standard among most adult coloring books. You can use most coloring mediums on this paper. As with most coloring books, if you use markers, you will need to put some blotter pages behind the page you are working on to prevent bleed through damage to the next page. If like myself, you prefer using watercolor pencils, watercolors or other wet medium, I advise to photocopy to heavier paper, such as watercolor paper, mixed media paper or 110# weight card stock. These will hold up to water application much better and eliminate pilling and buckling of the paper. I always photocopy to heavier paper, so it doesn't bother me at all to do so. It also allows me to color the pictures more than once.With the elaborate designs, I recommend this book for the older child, teen and adult. It is a nicely put together book.
