Melody All The Way is a fabulous series of books and I wish they will write levels 4 through Level 10! I return to them again and again and improvise as my levels progress. I find the tunes are timeless and nostalgic and will be playing them for years and years to come. This book teaches 15 highly varied pieces, each a short lesson that are interesting to play and so beautiful to listen to which is why they are perfect pieces for recitals and pure playing enjoyment! I use them for sight-reading, learning musical analysis and interpretation, theory, improvisation, memorization and sheer playing enjoyment!Rhythmic Form is presented in "Plantation Memories" and "Columbine's Lament" offers Lyric Form by John Thompson. There is a short excerpt from "Prelude In C Sharp Minor" by S. Rachmanninoff'. Reinhola's "Hungarian Battle Song" comes next followed by " Swing Low, Sweet Chariot". Next Daquin's "The Cuckoo" is followed by "Cielito Lindo (Beautiful Heaven)."La Zinggana Gipsy Mazurka by Carl Bohm is preceded by Beethoven's Adagio Theme from 'Moonlight Sonata" but transposed in the key of C Minor. There is a piano solo arrangement "From Gavotte and Musette" by Joachin Raff. One of my favorites, "Salute d' Amour ( Love's Greeting)" by Edward Elgar; J. L. Dussek's "Rondo", Christian Sinding's "Rustles of Spring" is in D Fat Major. An "Etude" by Anton Rubinstein is scored on four staves in the key of E Flat Major. This book concludes with Edvard Grieg's Adaptation by John Thompson of "Anitra's Dance (From 'Peer Gynt' Suite)"This book along with John Thompson's "Third Grade Velocity Studies" and " An Inroduction To Bach" prepares the student for Grade 4 Modern Course For The Piano.
